Vendakkai Puli kuzhambu


 Ingredients:

Lady's finger
10-12(cut into 2" pieces)
Onions
1 regular(cut in to pieces)
Tomato
1/2 regular
Salt
as per taste
Curry leaves

 
 
Mustard seeds
1tsp
Sesame oil or cooking oil
4tbl
Tamrind paste
1/2 cup
Sambhar powder
1tsp                                                                 

 
 
To grind:

Garlic
2 Cloves
Jeera
2 Tsp
Toor Dhal
1Tsp
Pepper
4
Red chilli
3
Coconut
3 Tbs


Method:

 
 
  • In a pan add 2tbl of oil and fry the cut lady's fingers and transfer it into kitchen towel and keep seperately.
  • now in the same pan add a tspn of oil slightly  fry the items in the grind list ., cool it and grind it to a fine paste.
  • In a pan add oil(sesame oil pref.)add mustard seed when splutters add curry leaves now add onion to it
  • saute nicely till it becomes transperant. then add grind paste to it and tomatoes to it and saute it nicely . you can add little water if the mixture is too dry. now add thick tamrind paste to it and bring it to boil.
  • now add  sambhar powder to it  and salt as per taste. and bring the kuzhambhu to boil till the raw flavour goes.
  • Now add fried lady's finger  to the kuzhambhu and bring it to boil till the oil comes out.
  • boil it in low /medium flame.

 
 
Serve it with hot rice.

 
 
note:if you don't have sambhar powder you can use each spoon of corriander powder and 1/2tsp of chilli powder,taste doesn't change a lot.
if you don't want to use garlic u can skip it.
sesame oil gives little more aroma then normal cooking oil. but taste  doesn't change.
