Idly Sambar ( Sambar for Idly)


Ingredients:
Moong Dhal
¼ Cup
Onion
1
Tomato
1 ½
Beans, Potato
¼ Cup
Mustard Seeds
¼ Tsp
Red Chilli
4-7
Green Chilli
2
Channa Dhal
2 Tsp
Split Urad Dhal
1 Tsp
Coriander seeds
1 Tbs
Grated Coconut
1 Tbs
Asafetida
Pinch
Curry Leaf

Turmeric Powder
¼ Tsp

Method:
  • Soak the Moong dhal for 30 mins and pressure along with turmeric powder cook for 30 mins.
  • Finely chop all the veggies.
  • Heat the pan and add oil, onion. Fry it. Then add the chopped tomato and fry it till leaves the raw flavor. Allow it to cool and grind it to a fine paste.
  • Heat the pan and add the oil. Then add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Then add curry leaf, asafetida and onion. Fry it until its golden brown.
  • Then add all the veggies one by one and fry it. Then add the tomato and stir it.
  • Once it’s done add the ground onion, tomato paste along with the moong dhal and allow it to boil. Add water according to the consistency.
  • Meanwhile heat a separate pan and add oil. Then add the Channa dhal, split dhal, coriander seeds, red chilli and fry it till its golden brown. Finally add the grated coconut and mix it. Then grind them to a powder.
  • Once the sambar is ready add the ground powder and mix it. Take out from the flame after 2 mins. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot for idly.



Serves- 4

Note:
You can add jaggery  at the end.
