PORICHAKOOTTU

INGREDENTS:

 
Drumstick
10-12
Toordal  boiled
2tbl
coconut
¼ cup
Jeera
2tsp
Peppercorns
3tsp
Redchillis
2-3
Salt
As per taste
Mustard seeds
1 tsp
Urad dal
1 tsp
Curry leaves
5`
Oil
1 tsp
Hing
1tsp

 
 
Method:
  • Take a vessel  add water to it(1 cups) add the drumstick with salt and  boil for 10-15mins.
  • Now take a mixer jar add coconut ,jeera,peepercorns,redchillis and grind it in to a fine paste with little water.
  • Now in the boiled drumsticks add boiled toordal and grinded  coconut paste  and bring it to boil.
  • Add Curry leaves  to it and continue boiling in medium flame.
  • Boil till it comes to thick gravy consistency.
  • Make a tadka.(take a kadai  with a tsp of oil add mustard seeds ,urad dal  turn off the flame add hing)
  • Add the tadka to the porichakoottu.
  • Serve it with hot rice.
Note :
The koottu will be thick consistency.
You can add snakegourd ,broad beans(avarakkai) instead of drumsticks.
